Sleep Analysis

Ascend breaks your sleep into four stages and calculates a composite sleep score based on duration, consistency, and stage distribution. Understand what helps you sleep better.

Deep Sleep

Physical restoration. Growth hormone release, tissue repair, and immune system strengthening happen primarily during deep sleep.

Light Sleep

3 – 5 hrs typical

Transition sleep. Memory consolidation begins. Heart rate and body temperature decrease. You spend the most time here.

REM Sleep

1.5 – 2 hrs ideal

Mental restoration. Dreaming, emotional processing, and cognitive consolidation. Critical for learning and creativity.

Awake Periods

Brief awakenings between sleep cycles are normal. Excessive wake time may indicate sleep disruption.

Composite Sleep Score

Ascend calculates a nightly sleep score from 0 to 100 based on total duration, time spent in each stage, consistency with your bedtime schedule, and overnight movement data. Scores are badged as Good, Fair, or Poor so you can spot trends at a glance.

Biometric Trends

Daily snapshots are useful. Long-term trends are transformative. Ascend charts your body composition over weeks and months so you can see real progress, not daily noise.

Weight Tracking

Log weight manually or auto-sync from Withings, Eufy, Fitbit Aria, and other smart scales via Health Connect or HealthKit. Trend line smooths out daily fluctuations to show your true trajectory.

Track body fat percentage alongside weight for a complete picture. Ascend reads BODY_FAT_PERCENTAGE from Health Connect and HealthKit, or you can log it manually after DEXA or impedance scans.
